A great figure in European jazz, the eternal ambassador of Big Band Swing, the inventor of “crossover”_ Claude Bolling is also an immense composer of film-music. His original soundtracks _ from “Borsalino” and “Lucky Luke” to the “Brigades du Tigre” television series _ still ring in our imagination in the same way as the music of Lalo Schifrin or Henry Mancini. This anthology from StEphane Lerouge contains great Bolling classics as well as rarities (some of them for the first time on disc), and allows a glimpse of the breadth of the pianist-composer’s palette in registers that range from opera to thrillers filled with suspense.
