The Blues : Mountain Harmonica 1938-1953

Sonny Terry - The Blues : Mountain Harmonica 1938-1953
The virtuosic and exuberant extroverted entertainer and harmonica player Sonny Terry principally represented the perpetuation of the old Appalachian mountain style, which went back to the first period of black music, before the instrument adopted a quite different orchestral dimension in the Memphis jug bands. He was very popular in the folk circles as from the fifties and his influence on most Yankee and European harpists was enormous. However, we must not overlook his vast quantity of recordings as from 1938, interpreting blues, Rhythm & Blues, folk and Rock’n’Roll. In this album we can appreciate all the various facets of this talented artist.
